From the editor: NYC resident Todd Seavey has an ear for debate. When not engaged in one himself - dependably upholding the libertarian faith - he picks up on interesting arguments around him and, once a month, turns to the arguer and says "Do you want to debate this at Lolita Bar?"
Soon after, 50 or so New Yorkers will be found with drinks in hand in the basement lounge of Lolita Bar in the hip Lower East Side. Todd hosts, but the debaters are kept in line by Michel Evanchik. Any debate - from global warming to whether it's worse to be dumped or be the dumper - will do.
The debates, usually pitting two opponents against each other (in a civil and often humorous fashion), take place on the basement level of Lolita Bar at 266 Broome St. at the corner of Allen St. on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, one block south and three west of the Delancey St. F, J, M, Z subway stop.
